Front page on the Vancouver Sun website?

This raccoon stranded on a hydro pole.
I'm not sure whether to laugh or be sad.

Twenty is venti

People need to stop turning twenty. There is nothing good that rhymes with it! Although, I am amused by how literal this one is.

Happy birthday my dear photographer extraordinaire!

Monday Mix #10: Revamp

Ok, so Monday Mix is getting a bit of a revamp. School has started and I have less time now but I still want to continue with this because I enjoy sharing music! So, instead of having a theme for each week I am just going to share five tunes that I have been jamming to all week. Capiche? Enjoy!
On a side note: The above picture is a representation of the current state of our pasta shelf. Pick N Save was having a sale. I believe we currently have 12 different kinds of pasta.......and some bread crumbs. Just thought I'd share this with everyone. Pasta is most definitely good good.

GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS
Keep hearing it on the radio and am liking it quite a lot
LICK THE TINS
I want to watch Some Kind of Wonderful. Right now.
MUSE
Dear Muse, please visit Milwaukee. Sincerely, Marisa.
MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD
Such an awesome tune for summer.
WEEZER
So damn catchy.

Lazy Sunday

It was gorgeous out this afternoon so I went for a walk along the lakefront. I love Milwaukee in the summer. (It's once the snow shows up that I have issues).

Guys we are so renting one of these four-person bikes!
Next weekend? Who's with me?

Those little things on the pond are paddleboats.

Beautiful disaster

Ok, corny title. I know it's of a forest fire but I can't get over how gorgeous this photo is. Such beauty from such devastation.

Twenty-one is tons of fun

And way easier to rhyme than "twenty".

Happy birthday, m'dear! Love ya!

(.....I don't know what's going on with our faces....)

It is a truth universally acknowledged....

.....that these book covers are totally awesome.

In the words of the magical roommate:
"I need these in my eyes right now."

These beautiful Penguin Classics book covers
are illustrated by Ruben Toledo.

My kind of dancing

The magical roommate just showed me this adorable video.

Let there be light

A lot of people think House on the Rock is beyond tacky (coughmymothercough) but I really love this place. It's about a three hour drive from Milwaukee and is full of collections and collections of the most random things. What really stood out to me when I went there a couple weeks ago (this was my second time visiting...well, third if you count the last time when we drove all the way there and arrived after it closed....) was all the amazing stained glass and lighting. So beautiful and vibrant. I am definitely going to be drawing some inspiration from these for future art.

Posters

Have been busy organizing and cleaning the new apartment all week when I have a spare moment from schoolwork. I have been looking for some posters to adorn my bedroom walls since this room (sadly) will not be painted electric lime green. Found some cute stuff on eBay.

FOTC New Zealand poster!
These will soon be adorning my studio.
There are a bunch here.

Adam

I went to go see Adam last week. I thought it was a beautiful movie.

(Although I am in love with Hugh Dancy so am slightly biased. But my non-Hugh loving friends enjoyed it, too.)

Goat Draw

Ok, I lied again. I do have something new for you today! I just checked my inbox and saw these posters from Rob featuring my goat!

I has wireless

Ok, so I lied. No Monday Mix and nothing much new to say. Am still getting settled over here and have had a busy week in the new apartment (which I am loving) and catching up with people. But the wireless internet is now up and running as of yesterday evening so new stuff tomorrow, promise!

Antoinette Fleur

Read about this amazing French illustrator over at Daydream Lily.

The colour and frenzy of Antoinette Fleur's work is stunning.

I like dessert

And you know what I like even more?

Desserts shaped like other desserts.

Mamma Mia - here I go again!

I love the new "Living In" series over at Design Sponge but I went a little nuts when I saw this one. The series takes movies requested by readers and puts together a series of found items that give the feel of the movie.

I love Mamma Mia too much for my own good. And the sets in this movie are stunningly, amazingly, drop dead gorgeous.

I want that Anthropologie bed frame so much.

Some sketches

So, being on Mayne Island for the weekend with no internet, no television and it raining half the time (I sound like I'm griping but I'm really not, I swear. Just stating the facts) I was amazingly productive in the sketching department. Funny how that works, huh?

(Sorry for the crappy quality. The sketchbook I used was too big to fit in the scanner so I had to take photos of each page)

Mireille: What's that?
Me: The Holy Grail.
Mireille: ...of patterns?

This one was inspired by a short story by Neil Gaiman from Smoke & Mirrors. Really awesome book (I think it's my favourite of his that I've read thus far).

This is a picture of my very tall sister
dwarfing all the little Asians at T&T Supermarket.
(Their baskets have extendible handles so you can
put them on the ground and wheel them around).

Flora

I wish I could take my flower planter to Milwaukee. After a few weeks all the flowers and foliage have started to fill in quite nicely.

Mish Mash Monday

Monday Mix will return next week. This week is going to be a little crazy since I'll be flying back to Milwaukee, moving in to my new apartment, and starting school. So, the posts this week are going to be a bit of a mish-mash of old posts that I have in my archives and have yet to post.

Hope you all have a good week! I know mine will be fun.
