As I am always fascinated by maps and a person's connection to a city, I am in love with concept of this book by Ami Sioux. Ami asked 50 inhabitants of Paris to hand-draw a map to a location of their choosing in the city. Some place that was significant to them. She then used their map to navigate to each place and took a photograph to represent each location. It is the second in a series of books that are meant to "portray a side of each city as interpreted by those who live and work in it every day. It's not a 'guide' to the new café or club, but rather, a unique way of discovering different parts of the city."
I love this beautiful concept paired with the simple side-by-side layout of map and photograph. My favourite is ultra-simple map of Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis with the ice cream cone for Berthillon.
