Friday {Blues Brothers} Dance Break

So a weird thing happened on Wednesday. I woke up and all I wanted to do was listen to Blues Brothers music. I had Everybody Needs Somebody on repeat. I even thought, "Hey, this would make a great Friday Dance Break!" So fast forward to Wednesday night and I get an email from my mom. "Hi sweetie, I had a suggestion for your Friday Dance Break. How about something from West Side Story? Or Everybody Needs Somebody from Blues Brothers? Dad would like that." Freeaakkyyy.

So I couldn't find a good clip of Everybody Needs Somebody but I did find Shake Your Tailfeather. I learned from the DVD extras that it was actually freezing cold outside while they were filming the street dance sequences.

(If you haven't seen Blues Brothers, please do yourself a favour and rent it. Or buy it. Because you will love it. It's one of my favourites)

I've been watching the Pride & Prejudice BBC miniseries all week while I've been working on my thesis. Naturally, it reminded me of this oh-so-amazing Mitchell & Webb skit that inspired me to create Friday Dance Break. Let's revisit shall we?

Friday {White Nights} Dance Break

White Nights has been on my to-watch pile for awhile now but it is one of those movies I can't have passively on in the background while I draw (which is how I usually watch movies). I finally got around to seeing it last weekend (it's on Netflix instand watch! Score) and from the very beginning, I was hooked. Some phenomenal dancing in this movie. So, instead of the usual jam for Friday Dance Break I thought I'd go with something a little different this week. (But you guys can make an exception for Baryshnikov right? Yeah, that's what I thought.)

Friday Dance Break

I was surprised when I realized I hadn't used this for a Friday Dance Break yet but I'm glad I saved it so that the first Friday Dance Break of 2011 could go off with a bang. This is one of my favourite dance scenes (I wish everyone danced like this). Like most people I know who have seen this, I first saw it on Ghost World. Maybe this year I'll actually get around to watching Gumnaam. Happy Friday!
