DOORS OPEN MILWAUKEE

On Sunday I had the chance to check out some of the events happening for Doors Open Milwaukee. Doors Open is an incredible event that happens each year where over one hundred buildings in the city allow the public to explore many spaces we wouldn't usually get to see—all completely free! Milwaukee is home to many historic buildings and I got to tour a couple that I've always wanted to see.

I made sure to line up early on Sunday morning to grab tickets to tour the Mitchell Building and go up the bell tower at City Hall. One of my favourite things to do in any city is to visit the high points and get a new perspective. The Pabst Theatre is one of my favourite things about Milwaukee (Rachmaninoff performed here!) and they had the entire theatre open to explore. Whether it was exploring below the stage in the green room or climbing up spiral staircases high into the rafters above the stage, nothing was off limits in the theatre. Here are a few behind the scenes pictures from the day. I  barely made a dent in the list of open buildings and can't wait to explore more next year!

  1. You're a lucky woman! I love behind the scenes tours like that. What an incredible building. Love the brass "pabst" seat backs. So beautiful.
